Tip of The Week

December 22, 2007

This week’s tip comes from our Christmas Gifts for you file.

Well, there are only two more shopping days until Christmas.  By now you are all done shopping and enjoying a hot spiced cider by a warm fire with your family or you are “on fire” because you have more shopping to do and millions of last minute preparations before out of town guests descend on your home.  Whichever is your scenario here is a list of gifts you can give to yourself.  I’m not talking about a spa treatment although that could be nice.  These are some gifts you can give yourself. They will all bring comfort, contentment and peace; and virtually all of them can be done without stepping out of your house.

- Collapse into your favorite chair and just sit listening to Christmas music.  Don’t worry about the mess in the kitchen…it will still be there when you get up.

- If your spouse has collapsed in their favorite chair…go clean up the mess in the kitchen.

- Call a friend or family member you have been thinking about but haven’t spoken to.

- Write a Christmas note to your kids, spouse, parents…someone you really love and tell them that you really love them.

- Turn on some music and make a list of your best Christmas memories.

- Go find your kids and read them the list.

- Get your kids to make a list of their favorite memories.

- Mistletoe or no mistletoe go kiss some one you really love.  If you just kissed your spouse do it again…and again…and again.  If you do it one more time better take this upstairs.

- Take a few minutes to think about the real reason for the celebration of Christmas.  Be grateful for the great gift.

- Gather your kids and read the story of the first Christmas.

- Go spend 30 minutes with an elderly person or someone who may not have family close by…just talk and be kind.  Bring your children so that they learn what a great thing this is.

- Gather some brave friends and go Christmas Caroling.

- Whatever it is that brings you peace…just do it and just do it now.

- Know that all of us at Ask John and Dave.com wish all of you a Happy, Healthy and Holy Christmas and Holiday Season.

Thanks for visiting Ask John and Dave.com and we’ll see you on the air,
