Tip of The Week

This week’s
tip comes from our “Hanging Hang-ups” file.

|
It would
seem that hanging things on the wall would be a pretty simple and trauma-free
project…ahh, think again. The simplest
task can be very frustrating. One of the
things I find to be a source of aggravation is getting the wire from a picture
over the hook on the wall. |
| |
| Think about
it. You have measured perfectly. You have mounted the screw eyes on the back
of the frame flawlessly and strung the picture wire with great precision. You even got the hook on the wall in exactly
the right spot (where your spouse wants it) without putting little pencil marks
all over a 10 square foot area of the wall.
You are ready to hang the picture…but wait. Your hand and arm are too fat to fit behind
the picture to guide the wire over the hook.
You press the side of your head against the wall as hard as you can to
look behind the picture only to find that God put both of your eyes right next
to your nose not next to your ear so you cannot see behind the picture. You can try dragging the picture down the
wall hoping the wire will catch but that will leave marks…a major marital
blunder. Now what? |
| |
| Not
to fear. Set the picture down and go to
the kitchen and get a drinking straw.
Place the end of the straw over the tip of the picture hook that points
out into the room. Now, with this
extension in place, guide the wire over the straw and it will seat neatly onto
the hook. Remove the straw and grab a
cold drink that does not require a straw.
Heck, if no one can see the straw extension just leave it there as your
little secret. Hope this helps the
hanging hang-ups for you. |
