Tip of The Week

This week’s
tip comes from our “Zap the bugs, not yourself” file.
|
| |
|
Since the
cooler weather has lured us back to our outdoor projects we will be getting up
checking gutters, looking at the roof and washing windows.
|
| |
|
Invariably
you will find a wasp or hornet’s nest tucked away behind a shutter or up in the
eve or gable. Having good wasp spray is
a necessity but there is one aspect of the wasp killer we all forget about. If you are spraying near an electric box or
near the electric wires entering your house you run the chance of electric
shock when you use conventional sprays.
Think about it. You are creating
a steady stream of liquid from your hand to wires and electric current. You guessed it. That stream can conduct electricity and you
get zapped at the same time you zap the bugs…or in the best case scenario, you
have a really bad hair day.

|
CRC™ makes
a wasp and hornet spray that you will find in every electrician’s or “cable
guy’s” tool bag. It is a non conductive
spray so that if it is sprayed around wires it will not conduct a current back
to you. When you go shopping for this
you will not find it in the grocery stores.
You will find it in home improvement stores and hardware stores but it
is usually with the electrical supplies and tools not with the pesticides. It costs a little more but it is definitely
worth the investment.
