Tip of The Week

This week’s tip comes from our “Hangin’ on the
Level” file.
|
| |
|
Have you ever tried to install a shelf that had
pre-drilled holes in the back that fit over a screw in the wall? You know how difficult it can be to make the
measurements and then get the screws mounted on the wall so that they are both
level and spaced correctly.
|
| |
|
Next time use a level and a grease pencil to
make the job easier. Take the level and
lay it on the back of the shelf (Where the notches for the screws are). With the grease pencil make a mark on the
level at each of the notches. You now
have the exact spacing for the screws marked on the level. Place the level on the wall where you want to
mount the shelf and adjust it until it is level. Once it is level make marks on the wall that
corresponds with the marks on the level.
Install you anchors and screws and then the shelf. The screws will be exactly where you need
them to be and level every time.
|
| |
|
You may want to consider putting some masking
tape on the edge of your level to make it easier to see the marks and to
prevent scuffing the wall.
